You give the game your all...you stay up latenights...you've hunted around on the web...and still
you just can't get past that point in the game. Not all is lost!

This is also a no-camera zone, which is a shame, since the game looks amazing. I play through to the end of the battle with Gackt, and am just at the beginning of the battle with Bahamut (he’s rising from the ground and glowing and golden and it’s going to be awesome) when they kick me off the press kiosk! As I am leaving the booth, out of the corner of my eye I see them escorting another media type inside—Craig Harris from IGN. Considering he’s about three times my size, I decide not to start anything and head for the It’s A Wonderful World booth instead.
After cutting in line twice using my press credentials, I start to feel guilty. The Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII booth, the Closed Mega Theater and It’s A Wonderful World booths were all indoors, sporting huge lines, so I had to cut in line just to have enough time to check them out before needing to head upstairs to the interview rooms. For most of the other games, I take a look from afar. I also spend some time checking out some art displays. In one of them, I find an adorable Cloud and Aeris doll huddling together at the bottom of a glass display case.
The end of the day wraps up with two interviews, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates/Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers and Dragon Quest Monsters ~ Joker. The interview with Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii can be seen in the Japan Report column of the October issue. I pack up everything and prepare to head back to Narita the next day. I am down to fewer than 1,500 yen, but luckily the bus ticket from APA to Narita is only 1,100 yen. May 14, 2007Flight from Narita to LAX is awesome, because there are three empty chairs next to me. Perfect for stretching out and sleeping all the way back home. |
